Church Planting
Reaching the lost across Glasgow, with the gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ.
There are almost 600,000 people living in the city of Glasgow. The vast majority don’t know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour. In our research we have discovered that there are between 9,000 and 11,000 people who attend ‘broadly evangelical’ churches in the city. That’s 1.5% to 1.8% of the city’s population. We could get them all in ‘The Hydro’. We’ve also discovered that the more deprived parts of the city are the least churched parts of the city.
“The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost” [ Luke 19:10 ] and there is great lostness in our city. There is a great need for gospel growth and for the planting of gospel churches in our city. The Google map below provides data on all of the Council wards in Glasgow and also maps the ‘broadly evangelical’ churches in the city. We hope it will encourage prayer for the great needs of the city of Glasgow and that it might inspire and support church planting efforts in the city. If you are interested in getting involved with church planting in some of the most needy areas in Glasgow, there are some suggestions for getting involved on the 20Schemes Barlanark church plant page.
Churches are shown in purple and marked as “Estimated” where no data was directly available from the church in question. These estimations represent a best estimate and can be replaced as soon as data become available. While great care has been taken to survey all broadly evangelical churches within the Glasgow wards, it is possible that some churches might have been missed. Please get in touch to highlight any missing church groups.
And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.
