Beliefs
We believe in the absolute sovereignty of God in all matters pertaining to creation, providence and salvation.
What we believe
- We confess the faith of Christ and covenant together to support one another in remaining faithful, not denying our only Lord and Master Jesus Christ in our practice, but actively submitting to his word in Scripture as the supreme rule of faith and life for all, and calling others similarly to the obedience of faith.
- We believe in the absolute sovereignty of God in all matters pertaining to creation, providence and salvation.
- We believe in the full inspiration and infallibility of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as originally given; their authority and sufficiency as being in themselves the word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, and a sure guide to eternal life.
- We believe in the Trinity in unity of the Godhead; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit – one God existing in three divine persons.
- We believe Adam and Eve, our first parents, fell from their original righteousness and communion with God. As a result all mankind have become helpless, guilty sinners in need of salvation. Such salvation can only be received through true repentance and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- We believe the essential deity and sinless humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ; his virgin birth, his work of atonement for sinners by his vicarious sufferings and death and his bodily resurrection and ascension.
- We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit and the necessity of his work in regeneration, conversion and sanctification.
- We believe in the justification of the sinner through faith alone in our Lord Jesus Christ.
- We believe in the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in bodily form in glory.
- We believe in the immortality of the soul; the resurrection of the body; the final judgement of all mankind; the conscious eternal punishment in hell of the wicked who die unrepentant.
- We believe in the ordinances of baptism by immersion of believers and the Lord’s Supper as instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ; but not in baptism as imparting regenerating grace or in the Lord’s Supper involving any change in the substance of the bread and the wine.
- We believe in the church as a communion of born-again believers whose object is to worship God and work together in his service, endeavouring with all diligence to fulfil the great commission to seek the salvation of the lost and realising the responsibility to “live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.”
